Short Movie Summer Camp – At the Distillery District, campers will engage in hands-on exploration of the filmmaking process in both the morning and afternoon, including pre-production, production and post production. In this camp, participants will learn about cinematography, scriptwriting, and editing. They will then create, act in and edit a short film and movie trailer. With access to our latest technology, including MacBooks, 4K cameras, tripods, boom microphones and green screens, participants will proudly present their short movie to parents, showcasing all their hard work and creativity! This camp is in collaboration with Film Camp In a Box.
ICFF Film Summer Camp – Lego Stop Motion
LEGO Stop Motion Summer Camp – At the Distillery District, campers will engage in hands-on exploration of the filmmaking process in both the morning and afternoon, including pre-production, production and post production. Working in small teams, participants will use LEGO mini-figures to design stories, construct sets, and animate scenes. They’ll explore the full animation process, adding sound effects, special effects, voice-overs, music, and titles to create their unique LEGO stop-motion short film. Campers will build essential digital literacy skills, which will be proudly presented to their parents, showcasing all their hard work and creativity in their LEGO stop-motion short films! This camp is in collaboration with Film Camp In a Box.
ICFF Youth Film Festival
The ICFF Youth Festival, now in its 14th edition, is Canada’s leading educational film program for students from Grades 1 to 12, inspiring students through cinema, culture, and language learning. Students can enjoy curriculum-connected screenings, educational packages, interactive Q&As with filmmakers and artists, and opportunities for cultural discovery. The program aims to inspire the next generation of globally minded thinkers by bringing engaging and impactful cinema directly to youth.
Coldest Night of the Year – Richmond Hill
Coldest Night of the Year is a fun, family-friendly fundraising walk inviting Canadians to step outside the warmth and comfort of their home to shine a light of welcome, compassion, and inclusion in their communities.
As Blue Door’s only annual fundraiser, Coldest Night of the Year – Richmond Hill is an imperative event as it allows Blue Door programs to continue to provide life-saving supports and services to our community’s most vulnerable. Funds raised support urgent needs and Blue Door’s Mosaic Interfaith Out of the Cold program, providing services to youth, adults, seniors, and families experiencing homelessness and poverty in York Region.

TCCSA’s Youth Connections Committee (YCC) is facilitating this community event showcasing Indigenous history, art, and culture, while also having interactive and educational activities, with raffle prizes for participants! It is important to acknowledge and celebrate the Indigenous heritage in part of reconciliation, as we are all settlers in their land.

Let’s Care for Our Mind (Youth led workshop)
Youth led workshop that focuses on de-stigmatizing mental health illnesses and discussing remedies and techniques for self-care. Pre-registration is required; newcomer participants must provide Permanent Resident number upon registration. Quick Action Grants Info Session by South Markham Connects
In November 2019, York Region Council approved a place-based approach to developing York Region’s Community Safety & Well-Being (CSWB) Plan and authorized a process to identify geographic areas of focus. United Way Greater Toronto (UWGT) has partnered with York Region and South Markham Connects to support a place-based Community Action Table (CAT) in South-Central Markham to help deliver on the CSWB plan.
As part of this work, UWGT has provided South Markham Connects with a total of $15,000 for residents and agencies, $1,000 for each Resident Initiative and a $10,000 grant for an Agency Initiative in round one to support local neighbourhoods to start new actions in parallel with the work and priorities of the Community Action Table.
