Volunteers Needed – The Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer

On June 8-9, 2024, join us for two remarkable days as we mark the 17th anniversary of The Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer, a transformative event dedicated to advancing life-changing cancer research at The Princess Margaret. Thousands of participants will take on the challenge of riding 200+KM from Toronto to Niagara, all with an undeniable spirit of camaraderie and community.

Volunteers play a crucial role in bringing this event to life. Whether assisting with the opening ceremony in Toronto/Niagara, helping set up the main campsite in Hamilton, or managing the finish line in Niagara Falls, your time, skills, and creativity make a positive impact.

Toy Mountain

This Year marks the 28th anniversary of the CTV Toy Mountain Campaign, which supports The Salvation Army and their quest to provide help and hope to families struggling to make ends meet. Every year, we invite businesses, schools, organizations, community groups and our Downtown Markham community to become partners to collect toys – and to help build Toy Mountain.

On Friday December 15th, CTV and Toy Mountain will broadcast live from the Pride of Canada Carousel at 8080 Birchmount Road in Downtown Markham. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live on CTV News at Six between 6 and 7 p.m.

Markham Fire Department will be on hand as well as The Salvation Army Band. We will be serving up hot chocolate and delicious treats for everyone who will join and want to partake in the event, drop off donations and take a spin on the Carousel!

COVID 19 – HOW AND WHERE YOU CAN HELP!

In today’s unprecedented environment, with the world in a State of Emergency, there are always communities and individuals ready and willing to help. In a pandemic, this becomes even more challenging when we cannot physically get together. Communities, organizations and individuals are all responsible to be diligent at Social Distancing. This is taking ACTION! This is making a difference!

There are new and emerging ways that individuals can contribute and an increasing need for support now, and in the near future, to ensure the health of our communities, charities and non-profits. As many organizations work through how to protect their communities safely and responsibly, we all need to remain patient and understanding. There are numerous resources available at Volunteer Canada https://volunteer.ca for both organizations and volunteers.

Volunteer Markham is here to help connect you to needed support! Please review the following list of ways to make a difference locally!
