DESCRIPTION:Friday November 4 – Saturday December 10\, 2022\nReception: Friday\, November 4\, 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Remarks begin at 7:30. Some artists in attendance. Light refreshments. All welcome\, admission free. \n“work from home” is a group exhibition by past and present art instructors\, volunteers\, Board members\, and staff of Latcham Art Centre. Pairing interviews from each contributing artist with a diverse collection of artworks made throughout the pandemic\, this exhibition reflects on stories of place and the desire to remain creative during the lockdown. SUMMARY:LOCOMOTIVES\, BUTTERFLIES AND PUPPETS
DESCRIPTION:Stay warm this December as the KSO presents a concert of strikingly programmatic music filled with machinery\, fantasy and folklore. “Locomotives vibrate in harmony” with Honegger’s mechanically modernistic mouvement symphonique: Pacific 231. Jing Ye narrates with her violin the Chinese “Romeo and Juliet” folk tale\, The Butterfly Lovers-a story of broken hearts\, beautifully set to music that merges eastern melodies with western instruments. A mischievous puppet comes to life in Stravinsky’s descriptive\, imaginative and exhilarating score to the ballet Petrushka. \nKristian Alexander | conductor\nJing Ye | violinist\nMichael Berec | host \n7:10 p.m. Prélude: pre-concert recital.\n7:20 p.m. Pre-concert talk. \nIntermission discussion and Q&A with Jing Ye and Michael Berec.\nPost-concert reception. \n
